A fellow local reefer hooked me up. I got some Radioactive Dragon Eyes, Whammin Watermelon, Cream Palys, Orange Cap, and Green Pocilopora. So i was plan on buying some Brightwell Magnesion, and Calcion. Is there anything else i should be adding or thinking about buying? Its kinda a silly question i just want to make sure i got everything i would need for i guess dosing?? Any info/thoughts would be cool.

a 2 part alk and cal will work fine, Before you start dosing get yourself a alk, ca, mg test kit and see where you stand so that you know how much to dose. Congrats on the freebies!!!

If you want to spend 10 times more for the same thing buy the brightwell stuff. And dont add anything to your tank with out testing. Spend the money and get a good alk, mag, and calc test kit. You may be able to maintain calc, alk, mag with water changes. You wont know till you start testing.

Salifert is fine for calc and mag, they are hit or miss on alk. Best bet is to buy a test kit for alk test your water then take it someware to verify your results the first time to see if your test kit is accurate.

I use Calcium Chloride from Bulk Feed Supply for calcium and Baking soda for alk. I wouldnt really worry about what brand or type of supplement till you start testing.

Definitely test before you buy anything! I have a 40 breeder that has about 6 frags, huge green star polyps colony, 3 colonies of polyps, kenya tree, etc. I am able to keep my alk at 8-10, calc 450-550. I'm able to keep up with everything just via water changes using quality salt (reef crystals or red sea coral pro).

I do a weekly water change 10-15% with ro/di water.
