im still new here but i had a question regarding my tank stand.

i have a 120g tank and im afraid the stand is getting a bit old and might break... obviously i dont want to lose my tank one day. the stand is about 10 years old or so and the base inside where my sump is, is starting to bow down a bit.

this might be a good time to get a 28g nano tank since im getting tired of taking care of this 120g.

any thoughts on how long a stand normally lasts?

It depends on how well built they are and how much water has been spilled on them over the years. Is it a DIY stand or a store bought flimsy pos???

If you post a pic I may be able to offer better input. IMO if it is starting to bow and warp I would start planning replacement or brace it up.

Sry your pic wasnt up when I was typing, it appears ok. The base board your sump is on isnt adding alot of structural integrity to the stand. If the bowing down there bothers you you can simply replacee that board or screw a layer of plywood right over it.

not sure but the wood will rot over the years become not as stable i moved from a 110 to a 12gal nano and a 29gal nano and will never go back much easier and less supplies needed

the sides are the most important part of the stand obviously right?

most everything seems to be okay except for the base. but like you said, it isnt a main part of the stand structure.

its a pretty solid stand, but i know it was a few years old when i bought it 7-8 years ago.

yeah, im thinking of a 28g nano since its obviously a lot easier. my 48" HQI lights just broke on me, so im using a retrofitted plant growth hood with a reef bulb in it.
the all in one nanos are looking more and more better

I found out something the other day while cleaning my stand. MAGIC ERASERS WORK WONDERS, it seriously looked new. So if anyone else has a dirty stand lemme know how it works.
