View Full Version : Zoa eating Nudibranches. How to get rid of?

Somehow I've got a small infestation of Zoa eating nudibranches, and I can't figure out where they came from. I haven't really added anything recently, especially any Zoas.

I noticed that some of my Zoas weren't opening up like they used to, so after closer inspection I found the Nudi's. Tough little buggers to see. They match their body color to the Zoas that they are munching on.

Anyway, what's the best way to get rid of them? I've been picking them off with tweezers, but I am losing the battle. I have a bottle Revive. Will that work, and will there be any adverse affects on the Zoas? I've only ever used Revive on SPS, so I'm not sure on the Zoas.

Any advice would much appreciated.

Thank You,
Bassking

Flatworm Exit by Salifert. Takes 2-3 high dose treatments but, it worked for me and only took out the tiny tiny brittle stars and the nudis. YMMV

had the same problem as you did and the revive worked out great. I waited til the lights went out and the nudis started swarming the zoos to pull out the infected rocks and dipped them for 15 min. the instructions said to add an airstone or powerhead for water movement but i just swished the rocks around for a bit to get all of the nudis off. did it once and then a week later to get any stragglers that I missed. haven't seen any of the little buggers in a month. good luck

I did freshwater dips of about 5 minutes. It took one a week for 3 weeks before I got them all.

By far the best treatment if they are on small rocks or frag plugs. 5 minutes is enough really but they will survive longer. I have dipped them for up to 15 minutes to kill sponges and they came out fine.

Just had this problem myself. Revive worked great. So far, no more nudi's and the zoas were fine after the dip. Hopefully there weren't many eggs.
