Try looking at them both (on). Use the one that is more yellow. Should be fine.

I think you'd generate too much heat and waste a lot of energy. I have have a big ball of chaeto with an old 10gallon tank hood fitted with a regular old screw in spiral compact fluorescent bulb. One of those 18 watt, but equivalent to a 75 watt deals.

It seems to be growing well, doesn't make too heat, saves me electricity and I already had it around the house.

Try the one that say full spectrum, if any will work it will be that one.

alright thx. the full spectrum has a really strong yellow light. it also gets really hot really fast if that means anything

It gets hot because it's a halogen bulb. Most people go with a CF twisty bulbs, also full spectrum or sometimes listed as 6500k, so we don't add any more heat than necessary to the tank.

I grow cheato with a cfl and it works great. I am always having to trim it back.

the cfl would be best, but you could get by with the halogen broad spectrum. The halogen will add a LOT of heat to everything, even to the point I am sure it would raise the stand 5-10 degrees. Be careful, as it will really heat your water up.
