mp 40 2nd generation?

Can anyone tell me how to tell if an mp 40 is 2nd gen... is it in the serial number or what? I would like to be able to tell everyone thats asking..

Not really, a lot of Gen 1 pump were upgraded by the owner. However the Gen 2 have a coated magnet.

How old is it? Where did you buy it? You can call Ecotech Marine, speak with Stephen King. Give him the serial # and he'll tell you

Do you have a W after MP-40? If so, its 2nd gen.

If you have a gen 2 pump, unplug it and look at the light sequence.


Upon bootup you should see 2 of each of the lights below flash.
Green\Green
Blue Blue
White White
