View Full Version : HMMMM...white stuff

OK. this may sound dumb but i shut my biocube pump for an hour to feed my clownfish in there and i kept seeing white specs in there which i thought was just like i dunno...junk still spinning from the water movement....however its not junk....these are like specs and they are white and tehy are moving, swimming if you will....maybe like 50 of them or so...any ideas?????

Well I had LR and livestock and whatnot in there, i was feeding mysis and cyclops and flake and pellet and various...i switch it up....i had 2lbs of rock rubble and about 40lbs of LR in there...I moved all LR but one big one and moved the 2lbs of rubble to main tank area of the cube...they are like white specs of dust almost but they are for sure swimming with intent and turn and and stop and go back and go to surface and come back....odd

Are they on the glass? Sounds like copepods to me.

Do they bother the fish? I used to have these small little organisms, almost like baby jellyfish. When the light would go off, hundreds would swarm from the rock and then dissapear after about 20 minutes or so. It was very appearant they were stinging the fish.

Have any Corals in there? If so It might be the Membrain from the coral with little airbubbels in it? I realy couldent say without seeing it my self.

They don't stay on the glass, they swim in the water and they are like little specs of dust, white....don't bother the fish at all...there is a signle clown so not too sure...oh well

Have you observed the fish when the white specks are out in the water? Are the fish eating them? Sounds like copepods.

i think after reviewing some vids online, i believe them to be copepods, but i'm not sure how they got there. hrmm, thanks all
