I just set up a 180 this month. I am not sure, but it is likely I will need a chiller in a few months as I live is SC. Would a 1/3HP unit in conjunction w/fans work or should I go ahead and go w/a 1/2 HP. Thanks.

I would always recommend going with the larger chiller, it gives you greater buffer to need. Also, beyond the initial cost, it doesnt cost more to run a larger chiller for the same tank because the duty cycle is lower (i.e., it takes less time to cool the tank from the on point to off point). To me its worth it to have some reserve capability.

For nearly a year I ran a 3/4 HP aqua logic chiller on my ~100 gallon setup. I tell you, it was miserable for the 3 minutes an hour that thing was running (LOUD), but it did to the job. I have since downsized with something more appropriate for my system.
