Saw something weird tonight. I have a 29 gallon mini tank set up as a qt for new fish. It has some live rock, maroon clown, and a tomato clown. Well tonight I looked in the refugium and there were bristle worms all over the chaeto, and several dozen large bristle worms were out on the live rock. Suddenly they all started extruding a milky substance that clouded the entire tank. This went on for about 15 minutes. Not suring this would be harmful to the fish, I removed 15 gallons of water, and refilled with some recently made saltwater.

I have a couple questions. Are the fish in danger of being harmed? or should I remove them and put in another tank I have running in my garage that is cycled.

fishes should be fine during one of these spawning events but a waterchange can't hurt. A good example why we should use filtration on reef aquariums.
