hmmm, so I had a bizarre algae break out which I will post about later, but some hair algae got on my sps, how should I get it off, if at all? It seems to have effected a portion of the coral.

Try wafting your hand close to the coral to try and force the algae loose.

If it becomes more than just a little bit, get a sea hare, they do an incredible job of cleaning it up, just make sure it will have enough to eat to sustain itself in the tank, also may want to put screens on all PH intakes in the tank(lost one this way, got curious around one of the Vortechs and that was it). You will be amazed at how quick it can clean up a HA nightmare. Good luck

If there is algae growing on a section of an SPS coral, that section is most likely already dead. I would just break off that part.

no the coal is alive and kicking, but I can't tell if it grew there or floated. I think it grew when it closed up for a couple of days bc of a crazy algae outbreak.

I lightly brushed one off with a toothbrush...see how that goes. Coral was not happy obviously.
