Hello all just wondering if i can put a sand sifting starfish in a 75 gal tank. The reason i ask is because have had a seller refuse to sell me one because he said that it would starve to death within a year. In case it matters i have a 4-4 1/2" sand bed in my tank. Please let me know what you think.

I had one in my tank for over 2 years and it died in a move. 75 is plenty of sand/food for it... I have a friend who has a 30 and has one in it for almost 3 years and it hasn't starved at all

Hes pretty much right, there will always be a few success stories, but for the most part no.

Nassarius snails are pretty good, as are sand sifting gobies.

Tiger tail cucumbers are also pretty cool for moving the sand around. They look prehistoric, and its crazy where they hide and put themselves during the day. I am looking forward to putting sand back into my 70 so I can get another one.

that is an option even though i think sea cucumbers are ugly but that one looks pretty cool.

Sounds like a sand sifter is out i do get a few people saying go for it and a few saying don't so i think i will go a different route.
