Well earlier today I was trying to glue a piece of birdsnest to a rock and just gave up I have never had any luck with this. It occurred to me that I could cut a piece of tubing and place the base of the frag in the tubing then squeeze the removing tube piece into holes and or cracks in the rock. Would this have a bad effect on the water or the coral itself?

you can always use the plastic things that they put flowers in and wedge those into the rocks, the coral will encrust over and hide it.

If you're using gel just dab a bit onto the plug, dunk it in the water so it skins over, then put your frag in place. Hold the frag in place and dip the whole thing in water for 15-20 seconds and you should have a bond that's strong enough to hold the frag. It won't be full strength just yet but strong enough that you can place it in a rack or stick the plug in a rock.
