So my tank has been set up over a month, and I finally got some tank mounts/brackets for the lighting fixture. Before I had to use some little make shift brackets that only sat a little less than an inch above the water. I got quite a bit of algae, and that might have been the reason why. But now I have some brackets where the fixture can sit as high as 6 inches above the water, which is the height now. The fixture is a Tek T5 8x39 watt over a 55 gallon breeder tank that is about 20 inches tall. As of right now I have a bubble coral, open brain, frogspawn, and candy cane coral. And I will eventually be putting some sps coral in. Is the height of the fixture good, or should I lower it a bit?
Thanks
