When it first started it looked like it was melting then it broke off. I didnt get pictures of the first one but it is alive and well. This is the second time and I got pics

That is weird , never saw that before! That is not how mine multiply .The mouths on mine usually split and then the head splits and branches out.

Interesting pics.
The mother colony and the "baby" are alive and well eh? My heads just continue to split. I have never saw an offspring drop off a colony before.

No I let it sit on the sand for about week after it formed its mouth i glued it to the rubble.

yep right in the middle theres a piece of skeleton the first one was the same way

Were these polyps that did this not getting enough light? My candy cane has so many heads that sone of the ones that are on the bottom side not getting a lot of light are stretching out and look like they may eventually do the same thing.

I had a frog spawn do the same thing one time but never heard of a candy cane doing it
