Hi guys,

In your opinion of craftmanship, efficiency, and performance, what is in your opinion the best skimmer you can get in this price range.

What size tank are we talking? That is necessary information IMO.

Probably the one in his sig 210 gal. I would say an itech 400 should easily out handle that size and still left you with enough money to buy some other toys.

I was looking at the vertex alpha cone 250, atb 1050a, or the bubble king mini's. any thoughts?

I'd suggest the 1050a, or if you want a very similar skimmer performance wise but for much cheaper the 300a or 1a from SWC is a good choice. All three use the askoll pump and IMO that's the way to go pump wise.

May be old school but Reeflo Pro 200 or 250 If you want rock solid performance, With set and forget quality performance. Just be ready to clean the neck several times a week.
I run a 200pro on a 300gal heavy SPS system and love It!

Contact mrc. If they don't have it on the site they can work with you on what you want. They have some now with the askoll pumps

I picked up a gently used Reeflo ORCA 250 for Christmas and I cannot believe the improvement in the system in such a short time. Getting parts to kick it into pro configuration for my "big build" soon.

The 3 things I like about these skimmers is of course they work very very well, but that the skimmer is built like a tank and the motor that drives them has rock solid reliability.

I figure I just bought my last skimmer for the next 10 years.

+1 on the atb 1050a....you may come out more confused than when you first started, after reading your responces :spin1:
