So I picked up a new small porcelain crab. He's pretty tiny.

After a drip acclimation I popped him in gently and he flitted his way down to the tiny little bit of sandbed I have in my tank. Stayed there for hours just sort of shifting sand with his feet. A snail finally scared him back toward the rock.

Now, at this point I went to bed figuring I'd lose him in the rocks for a few days.

Wake up the next day and he dug a hole down and under the rock, like a pistol would be expected to. In fact, I thought originally it WAS a new pistol shrimp hole until I see crabbies little claw half poke out.

Anyway, nasarius snails and hermits of course slowly buried him and over the course of the day I saw zero attempt to move or unbury himself so I sort of half blew some sand away and gave him a partial escape route.

Is this normal for porcelains? I've never heard of this behavior at all. I know he will need some time to adjust and will hide most of the time but burying himself alive doesnt seem like the right behavior.
