Hello.

I just added a BRS standard ORP probe to my system about 2 weeks ago. I have the probe mounted in my sump and its at least 6" from all other probes.

I am using the Apex controller.

The first few days the probe was giving out very low ORP readings varying from 65 to 120 or so. I was initially stumped but then researched a bit and found out that the probes will need to "break in".

Around the 3rd or 4th day the probe seemed to "break in" and I started geting consistant believable readings of 200-230 mv throughout the day. I thought to myself ok well Im low on redox potential but at least its consistant and I can address it.

About 3-4 days ago the probe dropped to the 65-100 reading again and stayed that way for a a day or two. Now, for the last two days it has stayed at 000 for a reading.

Thinking maybe something was stuck to the probe I gave it a good shake in the water last night and again this morning it reads 000.

What is going here? Any else have this problem?

I use the Neptune ORP probe and it has been in operation for about 4 months. I have not had any issues and have not had to clean it; my ORP tracks in the 350 to 370 range. Try soaking the probe in vinegar and maybe a gentle cleaning with a soft toothbrush. If that does not fix it up, then I would contact BRS about replacing it.

I too installed a BRS ORP probe two weeks ago and use it with the APEX. The initial reading was about 200 but it steadily climbed over the next 3-4 days and stays pretty consistent now between 390 and 410. My guess is you have a bad probe and and I would call BRS. They are pretty good about taking care of their customers.

Ok thanks for the replys. I have emailed bulk reef and hopefully they will have some input.

Do you have any update on this? I just got a probe from them and it reads 000 right off the bat.

ORP was used and the pH was new. ORP was a PinPoint and the pH one they gave me was a Chinese brand
