Contemplating building a sump to fit perfectly in my stand. Dimentions would be 28x22x12. Now being rimless, what glass thickness would suit this build?

Eric

3/8" minimum.

i am sure yu could get away with 1/4" (6mm) at only 12 inches high, after all it is going to have baffles in it too...but 3/8" (9mm) would give you a little extra bumping and banging room...

Awesome! Thanks guys.

Now lets talk glass bonding. Ive used RTV108 to install baffles in the past. Is this good for tank building?

RTV108 or SCS1200 will both do the trick

I completely agree...I see no reason why 1/4" glass wouldn't be more than sufficent for a 12"H sump with (I presume) multiple baffles acting as interior "bracing"...
presuming your water level height will be approx. 8"-9" for your skimmer, I can't see there being any issues for concern...
Also, using GE RTV108 silicone maximizes your adhesion strength (and it's FDA approved ;) )

good luck!!!
and post your sump build with pix when you get started....please!

Thanks for the info everyone. Ordered my glass and should be picking it up tomorrow. Got a new tube of RTV and chewed out by the wife for spending 200 bucks on glass.:hammer: this weekend should be fun

Ill try to post pics. Sump will be all in one. drain chamber, skimmer chamber, return chamber with ATO that also feeds a refuge and a 11 gallon fresh water res.

Eric
