I am going to be updating my refugium this weekend, and am going to be using a DSB. Are there any inverts that I can put in there to keep the sand bed active, but won't effect the pod population? I've heard that nassarius snails will eat pods, so is there something else i can put down there? do i need to put anything down there?

nassarius snails are a good choice (if they are eating pods in my tank, they are not significantly affecting its production), in addition brittle stars (normal sized and micro stars) also do a good job. If your fuge is large enough you could get a small cucumber. Finally I would make sure that you have bristle worms and other detrivores in the tank and enough flow to prevent detritus from settling on the sandbed.
