I have a frogspawn and hammwer coral that i just recently bought for 5 bucks a piece. My question is.....Althought it says on liveaquaria and so on that they are agressive would they be ok,great, or ideal for some clown fishes (nemo)?

when they are saying aggressive they are talking about towards other corals. they make great host for clowns

Some clowns may like it, some may not care for it. My friend has a clown and frogspawn, but that clown just occasionally swims through it, other than that he doesn't really pay any attention to the frogspawn.

yea its a hit or miss. My clowns first hosted my hammer and then my frogspawn. But in reality clowns have been known to host a lot of things including some areas of you rock or sand. I remember once reading about posting a picture infront of the coral so that when the clown(s) swim by they see it and maybe get the picture, I dont know if this works or not (never tried it) but it can't hurt to try, or maybe this is just some insane theory and your clown will just think you are crazy, lol.

my false perc clowns were hosting one of my large frogspawns to the point where they were tearing it up. I ended up getting a bubble tip anemone but for months they didn't look at it. I read that thing abot putting a pic of clowns near the anemone...I tried it and after a few weeks it worked. My anemone has since split and now my 2 clowns host all 3 anemones and they left the frogspawn alone.

It is very hit an miss. The torch or hammer with branches seem to be better than the ones that come from a large base, however the long tenticle plate they seem to like.

Buying anything for your clown to host is generally hit or miss. I have seen them hoest shrooms, zoas, and more often than not nothing.

I see this quesion frequently. Im surprised no one ever mentions buying a coral for a clownfish to host in is bad for the coral.

My clown has caused my torch and goniopora to now be deceased, and now it hosts in a frogspawn. It hasn't done any damage to the frogspawn, so it seems to be a good fit, but with the others, the clown would rip polyps off and eventually kill the host off.

It isn't ALWAYS bad for the coral.
Some clowns can be very rough with their host, regardless of whether it's a coral or anemone.
Also, until the coral is used to the clown constantly rubbing on it, the coral will close up a bit.
My 2 clowns host in big green Hairy Mushrooms. I have Frogspawn, Torches, Hammers, and Brain Corals that they completely ignore. They do love those mushrooms though.

Ive never had clowns host in any coral. But from what ive heard clowns that are rough on their coral as a host, will eventually send the coral reseading into its skeleton. So ive heard.

I have a nice, big pagoda that was nearly finished off by a hosting B&W ocellaris. He would host in it all the time, and the coral would close up and slime up wherever the fish touched. I think it just spent too much time closed up and spent too much energy cranking out the slime. After some months, the flesh started to recede a lot so I finally moved the clown to a different tank.
My two clarkii's love to host a really bony fungia. Crazy, silly fish. :spin2:

My cinnamon clown ignores the frogspawn and fairly frequently snuggles in to the Duncan coral. So far, doesn't seem to bother the coral. At times he has spent a day or two snuggling up to one particular rock of zoas. They are goofy fish!

I've had clowns kill goniopora from hosting it. I've also had them host many kinds of euphyllia with no problems. I've even had them host powerheads.

If you truely want nemo to go into something like the movie you need a magnifica anemone with a purple column and yellow/tan tentcles.
