View Full Version : any sand sifters that get big? 6" plus?

im looking for a sand sifter or something to keep my sand turned over and clean looking but due to its a predator tank it will have to be a fish aprox 5-6" at least.

engineer gobys get big but they will dig under rocks

horseshoe crab. Armor plated and gets big. They need plenty of space to dig without hitting rocks, but if you don't have a lot of rocks it should be perfect.

i had an engineer goby before and he was great except he only moved the sand in the caves and under the rocks!

ill look into a horse shoes crab and the yellow headed goby

Horseshoe crab probably isn't the best idea - it's a temperate water species and a reef tank is really too hot for it. That doesn't mean it might not survive for awhile, but it probably won't last nearly as long as it should and will be uncomfortable to miserable the whole time.

goat fish.... definitely able to hold their own and with their barbs constantly sifting the sand

Diamond watchman goby!!!!!! I have one that is ~5" and LOVE it... It's possibly my favorite fish, and is constantly sifting the sand.
