If i get shells from the beach can i but them back in my tank? :)

Yes you can. I boiled mine first and then rinsed in RO

assuming its legal to collect sea shells from the beach....(i dont know i live in a land locked state)

boil the crap out of them 1st then i would think they would be fine

+1 on boiling.

Just watch out for conch style shells..they loop around on the inside and could leave sand and detrius behind. A well place drilled hole will remedy that.

A hole punched or drilled on the third whorl from the point will release any suction from critters or allow flow to rid the shell of detritus. A sure way to get shed of small particles of flotsam or jetsam in the shell is fill it as full as you can with water then blow ferociously through the hole on the third whorl. Then boil.
