am planning to built a 400Gl tank into an outside wall.
It would be into a shadow wall so no exposure to sunshine.
What would be the cons of such a set up if there are any?
not talking about pumps and equipment just about environmental issues I might come across?

well the heat would be a factor. and the cold as well. and for 400g that can get expensive. umm... other than that dont see anything else. maybe stuff like hail might crack it . who knows. haha why are you thinking outsides though?

Thinking about the temp I presume?
wont realy start freezing or anything there I guess?
Here in Thailand same all I have to worry about is to keep the water cool with my chiller dont need heaters.
Right?

I don't know what its like in Thailand but I live in a Desert and still need a heater to keep the tank warm.

I would also suggest maybe having a window in between the tank and the outside. This would be better I think to keep everything insulated and probably help manage temperatures in the tank. Plus it will help protect the tank in case something happens. Random baseball or nasty storm with sideways hail I don't know. I don't know if that was part of the plan or you wanted the glass of the tank open to the outside.

How it is in Thailand? well its hot hot hot and hot always hot
As for the sideways hail storm I doubt it here.
When the temp here outside drops under 25°C (77°F) peopel die around here from cold. lol

Some of the concerns I might find is that the exterior wall and where the tank is held into place, along with the glass of the tank, expanding and contracting at great rates in comparison to the rest of the tank. That is if your temp swings at all. I might suggest a think foam boarder to take up the slack in expansions.

Also would suggest a second pane of glass, maybe a nice full-sized single pane of tempered glass between the tank glass and the outside. Probably could get a big ole sheet of starfire if you wanted to spend the dough. Also, I would think you would need much more support around the outside of the tank, AND above, as almost all exterior walls are 99% load-bearring, so you would have to frame around it with like 4x12's and 4x4's. If there's nothing above the floor you plan on doing this on, could probably do with 2x10's and 2x4's.

just to give you guys an idea
still not done with the drawings but I guess most of you can figure it out.
At outside view 2 this is actually the place where my car come too and is completely covered with a roof though no walls around it.
Actually right across the tank I have a huge walk in bird cage with 20 love birds in it.
The project is still in the drawing stage but as soon as I start building it I will keep you guys posted with loads of pics.
