I have two bracing on the top of my tank and I was just wondering if it will effect the effeciency of my lighting my much?

Yes, as the light passes into and out the other side of the glass braces it will lose par. Some light will be reflected off the glass and you'll lose par that way as well. With good lighting you'll be just fine. I don't suggest you cover the tank with glass, that's a bad idea.

I was wondering the same thing... Well actually, I knew it affects the PAR, just not how much... I only have a center glass bracing on my glass 60R... I decided that everything that goes under that bracing are my low light soft corals. All my higher light SPS are on the sides out in the open with nothing between them and the MH... If you absolutely have to use the bracing, I suggest placing only low light things under it...
