Hey guys and gals,
I need to mound a new candy cane that i got to some LR in my tank. I tried covering the base of it in super glue gel but its so ragged that I cant get a good surface to surface contact for the glue to set. I was thinking about making a base out of putty and gluing that to the LR which is underwater. Can I use any ole' putty from lowes or is there something special that Im looking for?

Aquamend from Home Depot works great and is what a bunch of people here use

It's green and white in stick form, After mixing you can also use cuper glue gell to the the epoxie to stick fast.

I use the aquamend in combination with superglue gel. First I dry the base of the rock that the coral is on with a paper towel. Next make a ball of aquamend. Put a dab of crazy glue gel, on the base of the rock that you just dried, next put the ball of aquamend, and then put another dab of crazy glue gel on the end of the aquamend. When mounting do one 90 twist as you are pushing the coral down. After you mount it use a toothpick to texture the aquamend to get it to look more natural.

Good call on the putty + super glue gel. I just tried to mount my trumpet coral the other day with just putty and it took three tries before we could get it to hold :/ Next time I will have to try adding super glue too.
