i have a hippo tang approx 3.5-4" range that disappeared as of two nights ago. he is always in the mix with the other two hippos but he has gone missing and i have looked everywhere. i have looked in overflows,on floors, in sump(just for the hell of it) but cannot find him. as of now i am assuming he is dead for some unknown reason and all parameters are reading fine. i am curious as to how much impact you think he may have on the parameters if he stays in? total system volume is around 800 gls.
for clean up crew i have 5 brittle stars ranging from 7" up to 16" diameter, 1/2 dozen hermit crabs, and 10-20 assorted snails.

Zero effect on your parameters(assuming your tank is at least 5-6 months old).

That hippo is a goner.

Fish can't live for more than 3 days without food.

Unless you have algea and critters for it to munch on.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Then it is shocking that my fish have gone up to 5 days on more then one occasion.

Not sure where you heard that, but it isn't true.

I had someone watch my house for 5 days whille I was gone on vacation. Told him not to feed my fish. They were all alive when I got back.

I've had a six line wrasse live in my overflow of my AGA 180 for several months and a clownfish live in one for almost a year, both were presumed dead. Not sure what type of overflows you have, but if they're deep ones that you can only see the top of, you might want to double check them again.

my tank was build by aquarium ob sessed. the over flows go all the way up to the euro bracing and its 5 inches wide so he would have had to make a perfect jump over the brace and land in the overflow. i would say it would be near impossible but stranger things have happened i guess.
