I got the jbj 28 gallon came with free stand very narrow its the one that has the four silver posts that the tank sits on. I dont have the dimensions as i am at work right now. But like everyone one else i want it to have a clean uncluttered look and would like to build a sump underneath. I was wondering if any of you guys with more knowledge than i have that had or could sketch up a sump idea that would have room to have a refugium and protein skimmer under neath. I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

thanks im just unfamiliar on a design that could be used to were it over flow threw the back of the stand into a box with chambers to the biggest chamber at the bottom where the protein skimmer would be and try to incorporaite a refugium underneath their. I was wondering if anyone has done this or if their an inovative people with knowledge with sump boxes that could do a ruff sketch of an idea. the sump box would half to be tall and narrow with each chamber kind of stacked is what i am picturing but dont know how it would all work? Any ideas or ruff sketches. i would like to make this with tax return money. thanks again:beer:

I use a 5gallon bucket for a sump in mine, running the skimmer in the center compartment with an HOB fuge. Part of the fun of these small AIO tanks is actually trying to KEEP them an AIO. If you want something with a big sump, external skimmer, etc ... might think about doing a bigger tank with more storage underneath. Plus, your girlfriend/roomate/wife won't hate you for having pumps, hoses, and sumps all over your living room :)

lol. Ya i already had two 125 gallon tanks with the overflow box set up with protein skimmer and uv on my reef set up and the overflow box and uv on the other 125 that i had as an aggressive set up. Sold the newer of the two perfect condition for 300.00. Sold the one i had set up as a reef with the canopy, overflow, uv, protein skimmer, ro system, two 150 wat metal halides, about 50 lbs of live rock and stand for 100.00 bucks. Some body got a steal. But i needed to get rid of them. Moved out for the 1st time and done graded. Id just like to see how compact i can get this little tank.

Welcome to the world of nano :) It's much more challenging (in certain ways) than larger tanks. You'll have a lot of fun, and still find ways to spend way more money than you want on toys :)

There is a good thread going for the JBJ 28g - jump on board and follow along for some good conversation

Ya i have skimmed threw them for a while now. Reeding all of the posts from the nano enthuisiasts out their is what made me want one. I knew i didnt want to get completely out of the hobby so nano was the way to go and ive enjoyed it more than my other tanks. Primarly because i have my own place and can pay more attention to it. My goal is to have the most water capacity i can have with keeping it clean and sleek. But il definetly be looking at the different set up with them threw the forum to get some ideas. Thanks
