Heard its great to use and also heard the manufacturers stated not to use it for aquariums... anyone still use? and how has it been going?

Also, anyone know where to pick some up around the Kansas City area?

I've used Mag Flake for over two years with no problems. The manufactures are correct...it's not meant for aquarium use. It's typically used for ice melt and dust control.
You can usually find it at landscape and construction supply houses.
In a pinch you can use straight Epsom salt but the reef chemistry formula is better.

If you have a calcium reactor, put some dolomite in it.

DOLOMITE DOLOMITE DOLOMITE!!

No calcium reactor here. Been dosing Sea chem reef builder and Aqua C calcium chloride and having a hard time keeping my lvls up even though I really dont have much demand. I ordered a Mg test kit online and I'm waiting for it to show up but I'm assuming my Mg is low. I went and bought some epson salt but wanted to mix it with the mag flakes to make the chloride/sulfate lvls normal, as suggested, once I start dosing. Just didn't know if I should go the cheap route and buy Mag flake, if I can find it, or get on bulkreefsupply and buy a container of magnesium chloride.
