hi everyone, just want to say im loving this site...alot of helpful info on here compare to other sites.
so i have few question and looking for a few ideas. I have a 24gal aquapod with the false wall still in with some LR in back and one sponge infront of the return pump. the problem im having is the water clearity. no matter what i have tried i just cant seem to get the crystal clear look :furious:, always have little free floating things in it. i do weeky water changes of 5-8gals a weeks and do DI top offs daily. Im running 150hqi over it. no skimmer. I have been thinking of removing the back wall and drilling the tank with 10 gal sump. so dose anyone have any ideas?

:wavehand: Welcome to RC. I also have a 24g Aquapod. My best advice for you to get clearer water is to remove the lr rubble from the rear. It just collects detrius. Second I would remove the sponge, it just collects nitrates. I would either recommend buying a media rack or making a diy rack. Use filter floss on the rack, that way you can easily change it out every few days. When I used filter floss the water was spotless. Also I would recommend smaller water changes. 10% weekly should be good. Your actual water volume is probably less than 20 gallons so that would only be 2 gallons. Feel free to ask me any questions about your Aquapod, since I've had mine running for close to 4 years

+1 lose the rubble and ditch the sponge. Set up a clean and easy to maintain filtration area.

I have the same tank as you and here is what I do.
Where the water comes in, I have some cut to size filter media. I then have a tunze 9002 skimmer to hold the filter media in place. At the bottom where the water goes from one chamber to the other I have a bag of chemipure elite on one side and purigen on the other. It helps with the water clarity but I think a sump with a filter sock may help more. If you want to do a non all in one, I'd think about upgrading the tank.
Here are some pics as to how I set it up. I no longer have the tube (auto top off) connected since it was leeching silicates from the plastic into the tank causing an outbreak in brown diatom algae.

The chemipure and purigen was not shown or in the pictures at that time, but they would go at the bottom between the 2 chambers since water needs to go that route to get to the return pump.

You need the Intake media basket. That will give you very clear water!
