Automotive HIDs?

I thought I had seen at least one thread around here somewhere in the last year or two regarding someone playing with automotive HID lights. I'm currently parting out my 325i, and the HID headlights have broken retaining clips, so it's unlikely anyone is going to buy them. I thought I remembered someone playing with them on here and it piqued my interest, since I'm likely to end up with two otherwise HID projector headlights. Can anyone point me to an HID thread or two? Search doesn't return any results.

Sadly his participation in the forum is spotty, He'll dump a bunch over a few weeks and then totally disappear for a few months/years. He had a few interviews done by glassboxdesign, so you might want to look them up, too.

Yeah, I was just reading that. Looks like it may be more trouble than I want to go to, especially since he had to try a whole bunch of bulbs to find the right ones.
