Im working on a DIY pico project. I was planning on going barebottom, but i dont really like the looks of barebottom. Is it possible to glue a very thin layer of coral sand to the bottom? I have never seen this done, but i dont see why it would not work? Look good and still give some of the clean effect of barebottom. I am aware that the glued sand may not stay white.
Any comments on this? :spin3:

my initial thought is that coralline algae will eventually cover the sand like it would if it kept BB, so it may stay looking good for a few months then it will become purple/pink sand.

Do a search for Faux sand bed, and you'll find several people, myself included, that have done this.
I used two part epoxy from Michael's mixed with sand and poured into a mold. I'll try to find a link.
Worked, well, got covered in algae, just needed a scrub every couple of months.
