When I do my PWC's every week I use turkey baster to rinse gunk that accumulates in live rock. Which of course clouds the water up for a couple hours. Is this a good or bad idea? I started wondering if I might be suspending things in the water column that I dont really want to or even interupting the biological filtering capacity of the live rock.

Doing that is fine and a common practice. I helps clear debris out of the deep holes in your rock.

+1, I've been doing it for three years.

I also do it but I only do it every other water change or once a month. I worry about disrupting the bacteria, I have not noticed any difference in my test readings so I think it is fine.
