the polyps on a lot of my sps corals are retracted-any ideas why or how this could have happened? or how get them to come back out again?
params are -->
SG 1.026
ph 8.2
nitrates 5 ppm
calcium 500
temp 79
phosphates arent registering at all it seems
i have a regal, CB and an eibli x halfblack hybrid angel but i have never seen any of them pick at any coral in the tank.

What is your Alk? And I'm sure you know this, but just because you don't see them nipping doesn't mean its not happening. Aside from that I would say maybe there not happy with the flow, either to much or to little.

yeah, i know they still could be but i watch the tank a LOT, and ive never sdeem them show any interest in corals. i have 3 koralia # 4's in my 110 tank. do you think that is to much flow?

No thats not to much flow. Actually maybe you need some more. I noticed I started getting a lot more PE after I added my MP20. I think the unpredictable flow is just as important as the amount. Do you have them on any kind of wavemaker or anything?

Yea, it could be your alk or maybe too much flow?

Do the polyps come out after the lights are off?

Im having the same problem with my yellow tort. Almost no PE during the day but at night it opens fully.

the polyps come out a little more at night but not fully. i turned off 1 of my koralias to see if maybe too much flow but somehow i doubt it. i dont have a wavemakerfor them so maybe i can try somthing like that.

IME this is usually due to a fish picking during the day, so at night when the fish are not out roaming about they extend. Keep a close eye on your fish during the day or move ther coral somewhere the fish might have a harder time getting to.

Whats your magnesium levels @?
Not sure... That's the one test I don't have. Could this potentially be my issue?

I would bet its the angels. I had a CB that I swore never picked, but got rid of him when I switched tanks. The PE is amazing now. There are several theads about angels and PE and many people report similar results as me. I would say its the angels, and with that many you will never have any PE.

It means nothing. Most corals have more PE at night because they usually feed at night.
