so i noticed a few days ago that theres some "meat" missing from my chalis...my params have been pretty stable since my cycle and im not really sure whats goin on. the only thing i can guess is that something is eatting it...i once saw a pep. shrimp poke at it for a sec but i have never seen it do that since. anyway here is a pic of it. what do you guys think?

...it just recoverd all the edges a few weeks ago too

How long is the tank been running? Could you be more specific on water parameters Ca, Alk, Mg?

my tank has been up for almost 2 and a half months. other corals i have are some mushrooms, pally/zoas, green slimer, and a frog spawn. all other corals are doing well. the chalice was doing well until about a week or so ago. i recieved it as a freash cut and it had just regrown the flesh on the edges.

alk: 8.0
ca: 360
mag: 1200

im going to try and bring my mag up once i get to the store...

since it was a fresh cut it may be just normal die back from stress and start healing from there..... i would also get your calcium up along with your mag...... try around 400-450 on the calcium and 1300-1350 for your mag... i would also try and get your alk to about 9 just incase of a little swing then it wont drop to low

hmm i hope so but it seemed like it just healed a week or so before the die off. anyway i just got back from the LFS with some products to boost mag, cal, and alk...hope it works

good luck..... just remember go slow when your raising your calc, mag and alk.....if you go to fast and try and raise it all at once you could over dose it and end up with your levels to high...what ever it says to use cut it in half over a couple days......

Try a red flashlight & see what is crawling out of the LR at night, if you think your parameters are ok.
