I currently have a 24 gallon aquapod with the metal halide and was wondering what would be the best protein skimmer to use with this tank.

Honestly, unless you add a sump or do some other modifications, you're probably better off just going without a skimmer and doing very regular water changes (20% weekly should be fine for most purposes). Tunze makes a small skimmer (I forget the model) that's supposed to be decent. After that, I'd suggest something like the Octopus HOB, but you'll have to make some modifications to the tank for that to work. You can also check out Nanotuners. I'm not sure how good their skimmers are, but they may have some alternatives that will work well with your tank.

The Tunze skimmer is the DOC 9002

You could try the Warner Marine H1. I just put this skimmer on my tank and really like it. Now my tank was recently set up and has no bio load to speak of, but is has began skimming and I am pleased with it. Construction was great and it has great reviews on the internet. A plus is the Sedra 2500 pinwheel pump. This thing makes tons of microbubbles in the reaction chamber. It is completely white with bubbles.

Here is 36 hours worth of skimmate in a brand new cycling tank. I used base rock and threw a shrimp in to assist in the cycle. I'm still tweaking the settings but here is a picture.
