Is this product the same as GFO?

Nope. This product is commonly referred to as GAC which is used to remove organic compounds from the water column.
GFO is granular ferric oxide which is commonly used to remove phosphate from the water column.

Man are u kidding.. no one warned me when I asked before I made the purchase online, I asked twice...
Should I still use it in my phosban 150 reactor?

It'll work well in the PhosBan reactor, but it won't remove phosphate. Carbon is good for removing organic compounds and metals that bind to organics. It's a good thing to run, but not a substitute for GFO.
Well, I guess I'll run it until I get my hands on phosban.

The reactor can run both at the same time. I did that for years.
Woah, like mixing phosban and ESV in the same reactor itself?
Does that do double the satisfaction?

 Well, running both the carbon and the GFO can be useful.
Learn something new everyday, I didn't waste my money on carbon then :D
