OK. I have spent the last 2 hours reading old post on lighting and no one really seems to have answers and there are a lot of different opinions on the subject but, before I spend another $950 on lighting I'm wondering if I will be happy I made the move or will it be too much light.

I have a 120gal 48 x 24 x 24 and it has 729 watts of light on it today.. DE 2 x 250 MH's and 4 x 54watt T5's plus moons

I am thinking of SE 2X 400watt with 4 54 watt T5's the new Hamilton CEBU

Can anyone help me ?

why do you need so much light? most 120 gallon owners use 250W lamps. I would save the cost of electricity and a new fixture unless you have problems with your current set up.

I plan to have 50% sps and 50% lps corals. I just keep hearing the 400w SE really cover the entire tank with no shadows. The DE bulbs do have shadows in the tank.
