Fishtails

Glancing at my tank today I noticed that my little fellow seems to have some type of scarring or injuries to his head. I've had him for around 3.5 weeks now and he's been doing well since. It appears like he's scraping his head possibly from when he wedges in the rockwork at night. The only other inhabitant is a YWG and some CUC members consisting of snails and blue leg hermits. It actually looks like there could be scale loss but it's only isolated to his forehead area. Any idea as to what could cause this. Ammonia test 0, Nitrites are 0 and nitrates are 5/ppm. PH is 8.2. Salinity is around 1.026-.27. He's still eating and active as before but this concerns me somewhat. I did a 5 gallon WC on a 24G tank this past Thursday. The tank is around 2 months now. I strictly feed frozen mix of cyclopeeze, squid, emerald entree, brine shrimp and marine cusine. Should I vary his diet more or try to incorporate some garlic in his feedings. I feed small amounts 2-3x daily. Anything else I should do or just wait it out?
Thanks
