My calcium has been sitting around 500 ppm for the last 2 weeks. I havent dosed at all since then. It is still at 500 ppm. I am not sure why it wont lower. All my other levels are in good ranges. The calcium is the only thing that wont lower. What should i do?

Could be your salt mix has a high calcium level, which will cause this problem.

I use Ocean Pure Pro Marine Reef Salt. Would that be the problem?

Ocean Pure Pro Marine Reef Salt mixed to a salinity of 1.0264 using a properly calibrated refractometer:

calcium: 510
alk: 10 dKH
mag: 1320

Hobbyists have been running higher calcium levels due to salt mixes used for quite some time now. I have not heard any negative results from this or read any negative complications from higher calcium levels. FWIW, I use Instant Ocean since I like my big three parameters closer to that of natural marine water (calcium 385-450 is the recommended levels). ;)

Your welcome. ;)

So it is not bad if i am running it around 510 ppm.

Not IMHO, based on what I have seen posted. :)

If you don't have any coral, then higher than normal Ca won't make a difference. If your keeping coral, then stability is more important than the actual number as long as your within a reasonable range.

I have lps and softies and zoas. So is it still bad that my calcium is that high?

The corals should be fine.

+1 As I mentioned earlier, although its not as important with most LPS and some softies its good practice just try and keep the Ca and Alk as stable as possible. But ya Ca at 500 is fine.

If you are running carbon at a high level it is important to test the magnesium level and make sure it is running over 1300 ppm.

This might be a basic question to ask here but

at what percentage of the tanks volume through water changes will the levels fall within the ranges of the particular salt mix being used.

That depends on which parameter, but for calcium, if you maintain alkalinity with a balanced calcium and alkalinity additive, the calcium will most often be close to the salt mix. :)
