Find a fat healthy one. I dont know that the coloration has an effect on their hardyness... they're not terribly delicate, but they're not bulletproof either.

I had mine go through terrible ich and high nitrites for a couple weeks and it managed to get through when the rest of my fish died. Now it looks healthier then ever.

I love my yellow belly tang. I have one of each. I haven't noticed any difference between the two. Both are big as bulls. The yellow is dominant over the regular one.

The yellow bellies are just a color variation of the same species, so whichever you choose the care requirements will be the same. They are one of the hardiest tangs; you shouldn't have any problems as long as you quarantine and get a healthy specimen.

I have an African YBT and he is very hardier and also aggressive. Don't know if it's the region they are from or what but this little guy doesn't play any games!:hammer:
