Ever had super low alk in new saltwater?

I just mixed up the last of my rea sea pro salt into 10 gallons of water. I've been having low alk around 6.0 for a couple of weeks. I decided to test the water I had just mixed and it came out at 4.6!

Anyway, it's the last of the salt and I'm switching to ESV's Seawater system so I'm not that concerned. Just curious why it's so low.

That’s fairly unusual, and could be a testing error.

Sometimes buckets of salt can separate if they are subjected to a lot of vibration, as in shipping. So even a mix that was homogeneous leaving the plant might have a lot of the alk part on the top or the bottom.

You're right, I think it was user error. Just checked my salinity in the new water and it was 1.012. I accidentally put in 2 cups of salt instead of the 3 that I normally do... =)
