I am having trouble understanding the basics of how to set this thing up - and I'm a programmer by trade! ;-)
Can someone walk me thru the quick steps to do something simple like:
I want my MH lights to be on PAB Powerbar 1 and I want them to come on at 8:00am and off at 5pm, however if the temp of my tank goes over 82 I want them to shut off.

not to be rude but you should scan trought the manual first :D
here is the manual for firmware 4, it will cover 99% of what you are loking for:

If you have any problem ask and we will help :P

I read both manuals, the User as well as programming guide. I'm just not grasping where these things tie together. I think if I see it done once I can grasp how its done but its that 'first time'...

Hi

it is impossible to offer support on reef central as we have a dedicated support forum, our time would be used up jumping back and forth between the two

if you could email me at sales@aqua-digital.com I will set you up a username and temporary password for this forum

I will take this over to the other forum tomorrow when I have access. In the mean time if someone can give me some hints so I can start setting this up I'd appreciate it.

I've gone in under illumination and done a very simple setup to tell it my non-dimable VHOs should turn on at 8am and off at 7pm. Seems straightforward. Now how do I tell it my VHOs are on which socket of my PAB Power Bar?

Once that is done I want to make it so that if my temp goes over 82 they turn off. So I read section 3.9 temp dependent light reduction. Seems straight forward - but doesn't tell me how to get to it.

BTW I should mention that when I am on the illumination tab and have seem to set it all up I am stuck at burning in duration which I have left the default of 0, I can choose save but Next only takes me back to that burn in duration field....

so set up a illimination timer, let's use illumination1
start 9h00am
end 9h00pm

now go to System > socket Functions
S1 and edit

from the drop down select:
Illumination
1

ok

Now plug you light in Socket 1 of the powerbar :)

ok (NEVER would have got that from the manual but got that now).
So now what I think I have is a turn on and turn off at regular times daily - right.

Now how do I add a safety feature to turn it off if the temp probe reads over 82?

look under Illumination > Temp dep. lightred

got it checked on - but where do I find 'shut off limit'?

ok I found it. I see it is global to all illuminations - in other words I can turn off all 'heat' producing lights when a temp hits 82 but I can't say turn off halide 1 at 81 and then all halides at 82 and all VHOs at 82.5 is that right?

I've got the VHOs plugged into Socket 1, I've got Illumination 1 set to go on at 8am and off at 7pm. I've got socket 1 set to Illumination 1. Yet when 8am came this morning the light did not go on. On the physical power bar S1 LED is red. On Socket1 within PC software it is red as well. This is the only device I have setup and only one PAB power bar plugged in.
