do you all think having teeth at the top is essential for this? the alt would be to cut the baffle off at the desired water level and let it poor over "infinity" pool style.

Hitching a ride on this post. I am in the planning stages of the overflow on my 100gal build. I was looking at doing pretty much same thing, no teeth. But also put some egg crate to keep critters fromk getting in the overflow box.

the eggcrate might be an ok idea as long as one could not see it while viewing the tank

Nope, not essential and to me it is preferred to not have the teeth in the overflow box.

i feel it will look nicer to be a solid black wall...
but i would like more opinions.

it is more effective to not have teeth on it as it will skim a thinner layer of the surface water..

you could leave it without teeth and place a piece of eggcrate inside (out of side) the box and that would keep critters out. just an idea

i do not want the eggcrate to be viewable from the front it would need to be an inlay
