Hello! :fun5:

Thinking of upgrading my lights to T-5's

For lighting systems like the ones below, can you just remove the stand and place the light directly onto your aquarium? Is there any harm in doing that? Overheating etc...?

Thanks for the help!

why ?
most lights preform best (t-5) about 4-5 in above the water surface

Sorry didn't know that, still learning and researching! :fun4:

But also my current tank is 48 inches long, I'm getting a 48inch light. So the light might be spilling out on the side. Why am I going 48inch? In case I upgrade later down the line. Thanks! :lol2:

It just has to do with spread. if you still get full coverage and the fixture has a shield to protect the lamps the only thing that will happen is that you'll get more intense light.

raise them 4 or 5 inches and you'll loose intensity. raise them 2 ft and you'll loose even more :) get them as close as you can and still achieve adequate light spread.

I have my Aquactinics Constellation sitting DIRECTLY on the tank top.
