Hi guys,
I am startin a 55g fowlr.

Someone is selling premium Fiji Liverock , that was once "alive" for 2 yrs with coralline etc, but has been out of the water for 2 months now. So right now its "uncured" .

If I buy it (@ $3/lb) for 55lbs. Is it ok? Can I "Cure" it again- how long would it take? To cure it should I just add the Bacterial additive liquid and some hermit crabs?

Pls advice :)

Thanks a million:)
Kris

I think that would make it dead base rock.
Might half to scrub off all the dead stuff to reduce the ammonia spike.

Just guessing here.

powerwash or scrub the heck out of it to make sure you get any nasties off! After that cure it before adding any livestock.

it is not "uncured" rock but just plain dead rock. Uncured rocks are live rock that just haven't been cycled.
I would wash the rock to make sure I don't add any waste

$3/lb is too much to pay for what is now just plain rock. It is fine to use. Put it in water if you're getting no ammonia off it then you are good to go. That will depend on how truely "alive" it once was.
