Are there any acrylic magnets out there that wont scatch your acrylic tank or even some of your own techniques that acrylic tank owners can share?

I have a acrylic mag float that I NEVER use anymore.

I simply use Mr Clean Magic Eraser on all but the bottom 1 in (above the sand).

for the last bit to the sand I use a acrylic safe scraper.

works for me.

Are these aquarium safe? I just looked into them and they are made with a ton of chemicals. (thats the magic) Ammonium salts and alchohol and some other chemicals, not to mention they disolve slowly. Just wondering.

yeah I was wondering the same as I read a little on them.I also looked into something by Scotch called a Dobie I heard from someone on here say they put it on the magnet on the inside of the tank and it does pretty good

Yes, I still searching the answer: Is Magic Cleaner chemical safe to use for the tank water? Any chemist here shred some lights? Thanks

I ONLY use the "original Mr. Clean" with no additives also I dont use some of the similar products by other manufacturers.

I have been using the Mr. Clean for about a year with no noticeable effect on my FOWLR (with nem). I generally only get about 4 cleanings per pad (2 cleanings per side)

As with anything in life, do your own research, and make your own decision.

Mr. Clean ORIGINAL Magic Erasers are 100% safe

I have seen some newer "extra cleaning power" versions which may have chemicals in them; I would stay away from those for sure.

But the original (plain) Magic Erasers are fine to use on acrylic tanks.

I find the Magic Erasers are great for green / brown "haze" algae removal but not too good for coralline removal - unless you want to scrub the same small spot for 45 - 60 seconds...

I use a foam-on-a-stick i got from my LFS. It's that low-tech, and works well.

No offense to the proponents of the Mr. Clean eraser, but I would not put that thing in my tank. You never know if/when Proctor & Gamble may alter the manufacturing process of the magic eraser that could leave funky chemical byproducts in your tank. Wouldn't do it.
