Hi,
Just wondering if I can put more than 1 species of anemones in a tank ?
My tank is 120L (approx 30gal), is there a particular types that I should avoid ?
Thanks.

I have tried it in the past --- Haddoni with an LTA (( M doreensis )), and then a Haddoni with an BTA (( E. quadricolor )), and both cases the Haddoni was moving a lot and wouldn't settle in (( same with the LTA )), but once the other anemone species was removed it settled in --- nothing else about the tank changed. So, I am not a fan of mixing species of anemones, color morphs of the same species have been fine.
Plus, given the size of your tank, really would only be able to fit one hosting anemone anyways.
5 brown BTAs (clones), 2 mags (a brown & a purple), 1 crispa. Been together for years. Two tanks connected together, a 180 and a 100. Tried a gigantea, but had to remove it. Other anemones retracted. Guess I pushed the envelope too far. The present combo seems to be fine for these particular individuals.

Thanks, I was thinking to put 2 small (different types) anemones and a pair of tomato clown.
Is it a bad idea to keep anemones without a host ?

As long as there are no anemone predators in the tank. But, given the size of your tank, I think having 2 different anemones wouldn't be the best idea.

It depends on the size and species of anemones.
I've got 6 different species of anemone in a 20L but they are smaller species.
Stichodactyla sp - minicarpet anemone
Epicystis sp. - Flower anemone, 3 different ones,
Entacmoea sp. - small bubbletips (not majano)
Bartholomea annulata - Curlycue anemone
Actinia burmudensis - maroon anemone
Pachycerianthus - banded tube anemone

I have a large sebae (7-8 inches across) with two RBTA's and 1 GBTA.
They've been in VERY close contact for the past few months. They still expand fully and their tentacles intermingle and graze on one another.
No problems. The percula loves it
