ok, so i was pretty scared the past few days about my green bta it had a small part of its body that was stuck in the overflow for a few hours last week. a coule days later it looked fine and was wandering trying to get a comfy spot(i just bought him 2 weeks ago) anyhow he attached to the back glass and seemed happy. a day or two later in the same spot he looked like terrible!
there was nothing i could do i had to go to work so i switched my lights to daylight and left. when i came home after work this is what he looked like, which is much better than he looked before work!

i bought the tank about 6-8 months ago from a friend, the tank was established for a few years and we moved and reused all the water and live sand and all the same filters and what not, i bought new wave point t5 ho's s 3 weeeks ago and keep a heater on at 80degrees. all the live rock has been a slow project but i have about 40 lbs. my goal is about 100lbs or more including the rock in the refugium

My RBTA has spilt once for me. It's not uncommon at all.

From what I have read it is believed stress causes splitting and is not uncommon. Also BTA are rock dwellers, I would think it should of found a home within two weeks.

ive heard both that they can split because of stress or because of size and proper health.

my water is:
calcium 330
ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrates- just a little
ph-8.0

i cant think of anything that would be "stressing " the bta

You just bought him a few weeks ago, that's stressful enough.

^^thanks! i wish i took more but like i said i thought he was almost dead. here is another pic i took this morning of "half" of the bta, both "halves" are doing great!

i agree about the stress for sure! i bought the bta about an hour after his long plane ride from the store close to my house so i can imagine the stress was high. hopefully it will be happy now!

heres a pic from this morning.
