Does anybody have any links or schematics for making your own Auto Top Off unit? I found one that looks incredibly easy and inexpensive to make on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UmT2rV0iYE

Buuuut, in reading the comments beneath the video... this DIY is also somewhat likely to inadvertently electrocute you. Not so keen on that part.

I'm not looking for anything fancy. Just a float switch that will tell a pump to turn on so it can shove some water from a bucket, through a flexible tube and into the sump. But, I don't know how to safely connect them.

If possible, look into gravity fed ATO controlled by a simple mechanical float valve. No electrics involved. All you need is a container set up higher than your sump or display, some tubing and a mechanical float valve like those used for furnace humidifiers. Not very much to go wrong with a system like this, provided you have the space and keep the ATO container a reasonable size so a failure won't flood things too much.

I don't have the space or a sump, so I do need to use some electrics... a small air pump to pressurize a glass wine carboy and a timer to control how often and long the air pump runs to keep up with the evap rate.

I knew of someone who just had a container filled with RO and just dripped it her sump all day long. Its not for me but worked fine for her.
