Tank is up and running for more than a year. Everything in it were from 3 other tanks that have been up for 4 years...newest thing was added about 1.5 years ago. Today doing a water change I find this little guy. I carefully scraped him off the glass and separated him pending an ID. Any ideas? Bad, good? Really know nothing about them.

Well it's been in there a year and a half at least since it was introduced...are your zoas faring well?

In the last month they have been closed up. I have figured that is due to the NO water change I have been lacking on during the last 6 months. Found one more on a zoa colony. But no others. Have many zoas, but looked and looked and found nothing. Have not had any of them "disappear" in this time.

If you found one, you can be sure there are more in there. Check all your zoas for eggs and juveniles as well as any more adults.

Been reading around. Right now I am doing the manual removal. Question, do these things have the ability to regenerate? Meaning if I get one but end up cutting it in 2 can it regenerate into new nudis?

i had 2 come in on zoas i got. i picked them off with a tweezer. it got split in half. i thought that was the end of it. when i looked back in the tank to find the other half. i saw it crawling away on the sand bed so i grabbed that one out too.

Did a round of manual removal with tweezers. That did ok I guess. Squished a few. Then earlier this week they showed up again (guess that was the life cycle). this time I am siphoning them off the zoa colonies. That seems to be working ok. They seem to only be mainly interested in only one of my colonies for some reason.

Did you check for eggs and scrape off any you found?

I read the stuff that was posted but didnt see anything that described eggs. So no, didnt scrape any eggs.

Ok, its many months later and figured I would update.

The "vacuuming" method seemed to work pretty good. Would also use a turkey baster to remove individuals....this worked much easier than trying to use tweezers. After about a month I stopped seeing them and stopped seeing the zoos closed up from their attacking.

now its beginning of August and 4 months later. Still no signs of them for the last 3 months.

Looks like a zoa-eating nudi to me. If you have zoas, freshwater dips could work to help remove. Be sure to get those out of there if you want to keep zoas!

I appreciate your reply, but you obviously didnt read the thread.

I am not sure if you are saying that once you get these its over for your zoas once you get these, but mine survived the outbreak just fine.
