Any recomendations on a good sand substrate? I am looking for something not too fine. Thanks.

medium grade aragonite dry sand is a good choice.

I use this (http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+9805+7326&pcatid=7326) in all of my tanks. Very happy with it.

In case you would be buying it at an LFS, the bag looks like this;

I would steer clear of sugar grain and Crush coral. Crush coral becomes a nitrate factory and sugar grain sand gets stirred up really easily.

I like a bit of aragonite sugar grain (but not too fine) mixed with medium grain aragonite reef sand . Sort of a blend if you will. The finer stuff helps keep the sand sifters happy, and the chunkier bits help keep the diggers happy. Plus provides for some variety in appearance. Rather than being too uniform.
